Abstract
In the short story "Engelbecken" by German writer Tobias Hülswitt (1973–), Katja struggles with the histories of the refugees and immigrants to whom she teaches German, while considering what kind of meaning her own life as a contemporary Berliner can have. A photograph of the Angel Pool by the translator, Rachel Halverson, accompanies the translation.
