Abstract

Two poems by the Polish-born American Yiddish poet, both evoking smoke imagery, "In Roykh" from 1920 and "Roykh" from 1946, present a vivid contrast between the sensuality of tobacco smoke and the horror of cremation smoke. The original poems are presented in both Hebrew and transliterated texts, facing the translations.
